From gold Ferraris to McDonalds!
Tuesday 04th October 2016
Well, it's been an absolute whirlwind for us this summer, being the wedding band for countless lovely couples. And for the first time in months, we can catch our breath on a weekend and share some of our experiences with you.
The heat really got turned up back in August, when we spotted this gold Ferrari outside the wonderful Dartmouth house, Mayfair - the venue for one of the weddings we performed at.
From Mayfair to the lovely Pot Kiln in the countryside to play for Vivien the following week. We performed outside and luckily weather held up! There was singing, dancing and even a cosy log fire!
Most recently, we've had a couple of gigs in some beautiful marquees and some very enthusiastic guests...I don't know what it is about Marquees that brings out people's best dance moves?
Perhaps it's something to do with the addition of the song Saturday Night by Whigfield that's done it. In future blogs we'll bring you some video evidence of this. We were a little skeptical with Nick, our frontman's, history of introducing wildcard song choices but this one has proved an instance hit!
The old favourites in our setlist continue to shine. A few years ago we introduced Rapper's Delight. In this song, each one of us take on one of the raps and as such, it's become somewhat of a highlight of each gig - the highlight known as the 'rap battle'. Each gig, we ask our audience to pick a winner...and every time our drummer Tom wins. As such Tom is now known as the undisputed heavyweight function band rapper of the world. Andy, our guitarist has even tried underhand tactics to throw Tom off his flow but to no avail! This guy can spit the SP rhymes in even the toughest of conditions.
Anyway, enough about internal band rivalry! The marathon run of gigs culminated last weekend with a wonderful evening playing for Debbie and Paul near Leicester. From the get-go it was one of those gigs where people danced from beginning to end and we had such a wonderful time that even Tom winning another rap-battle didn't mar the occasion for Andy and Nick.
To celebrate, here's a picture of Tom enjoying a McDonalds at 1.30am.
Until next time!
