Summer is here and the wedding season is well and truly in full swing! We're having a ball being the wedding band for some amazing couples and for all those engaged couples who have booked Stanley Park to be your Pop and Rock wedding band - we cannot wait!
This month, is the third and final member factfile and is the turn of our lead singer/guitarist extrodinaire, Mr. Nick Parker. Here he is taking a cheeky selfie whilst playing!
What's your first musical memory?
Playing keyboard backing tracks in our family band, with Dad on the 12 string, my brothers playing maracas out of time and my Mum on harmonies. The Beatles never sounded so good!
Do you play any other instruments?
I had a brief fling with keyboards and synthesizers when I was younger before moving onto guitar.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Early Alex Turner, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.
Most recent listening?
I currently have Ra Ra Riots album on repeat in my car.
Outside of the band, what do you get to?
I am a management accountant, which basically means I mess around on Excel for 8 hours a day.
What are your other interests?
I enjoy a hit at tennis, a kick of football and playing nerdy board games. Nerdier the better!
Favourite band memory?
My favourite memory was when half way through a gig, Tom and Andy swapped instruments for a special rendition of 'Summer of 69'. They'd organised it all, learnt all the parts and practised it together, all without me knowing! Still to this day, witnessing Tom release his inner Bryan Adams was one of the funniest things I've seen!
Tell us something about the other band members that we wouldn't know.
Andy is the biggest name dropper I've ever met! If I had a pound for every time I've heard about his drink with Craig David, I'd be a rich man! Tom always used to be the last person to hear about new music. He would tell us about this 'new, amazing' band that had been in the charts for years. Unfortunately he now listens to the radio, so we no longer get this amusement!
Well that's it for now folks - if you would like to meet Nick in person and have Stanley Park perform for your big day, just pick up the phone and give us a call - we can't wait to get you and your guests dancing!
